We had a great last week of kindergarten. The children have all worked so hard this year and have grown in soo many ways! So we took some time out to celebrate our great friends & our great school year! On Thursday we had our Kindergarten & First Grade Fun Fest. We teamed up to enjoy some fun outdoor activities! Mrs Anderson & I were so impressed by the great sportsmanship that all of the children showed! Our Last Day of school was filled with lots of hugs, fun, smiles, & great memories & even a few tears! We know that great things are ahead of us & the children are ready for First Grade! I wish the year was not over - because it is very hard for me to say goodbye to these PRECIOUS children at the end of the year! Thank you to all of the amazing parents for your support this year & also for your thoughtfulness generosity!!!!! I really appreciate all that you have given me this year. I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to teach your children. Each & every child has a very special place in my heart!! I hope you all have a wonderful summer!! I now present our new 1st Grade class!! Have a wonderful, relaxing & safe summer! God Bless You All!! The students have spent a lot of time this week practicing for the Spring Concert. The children did a great job singing their hearts out! Our Buddy Reading with our first grade friends was special today! We just could not stay inside on this incredibly beautiful day. After great reading, we played a quick game of duck-duck-goose! It is fun to see our Kindergartners & 1st Graders becoming good friends this year! We remember to think of & pray for all the people who have given so much to protect & serve our country. Have a safe & happy holiday weekend! Happy Memorial Day! We celebrated our final Kindergarten Super Star of the week this week. This super star has patiently waited for his turn to be our Star. It was interesting getting to know more about all of our super stars this year ! It was also very special to hear the thoughtful compliments the children gave to all of our friends. The children are enjoying taking and filling pizza orders for customers in our Pizza Hut dramatic play area. The customers thought it was pretty cool writing a check to pay for their lunch or dinner. One tasty farm product had the children shaking and singing about butter. The children used their muscle power to turn heavy whipping cream into butter. It was pretty cool to see the whipping cream go from a liquid to a solid & then after more shaking, we had a liquid buttermilk to pour off our final product - of butter. Yum!!!! Our butter was delicious!! We ended our week with NDA yay Day! The children participated in 17 different stations. A fun time was had by all of our NDA friends. Unfortunately, I only got a few photos! Ask your child to tell you about his or her favorite stations. This week we spent some time thinking about our wonderful mothers! (Click on the arrow to play video below & turn up the volume!) Your children are so thoughtful & precious! They are very proud of their special mothers! I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend. Our Super Star of the Week: This week we have been reading different versions of the story of the Little Red Hen. It gave us lots of practice with reading the word said and finding quotation marks. We also made a venn diagram comparing similarities and differences in the 2 different books: the Little Red Hen & Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza. We also are learning interesting facts about chickens. It was pretty exciting when the children got so excited to take notes on our 'online fieldtrip' to a chicken farm. The kindergartners did an awesome job writing down interesting words and ideas about chickens. They are becoming wonderful writers!!! Here are some of the facts they learned on our 'trip to the chicken farm'. We also were fact detectives - on the lookout for facts hidden in fiction books as well. Our Star of the Week: Our Star of the Week's Dad visited our classroom this afternoon to share some of our Star's favorite poems. Thanks for sharing the poem booklet with all of our kindergarten friends! Our Lovely Little Red Hen's Little Red Hen reminds us to always be a good friend and always help others.Have a sunny weekend!Since it was another indoor recess day, we burned off our extra energy with the Tony & the Kids! DVD. The kids were focused, had fun, and were excited about exercising!! I hope everyone had a great day today at the NDA Marathon! I am so sad that I could not be there. I was away at the Minnesota Kindergarten Association Conference in Owatonna. I LOVE LEARNING new ideas!! One of the MANY highlights of the 2 Day Conference was meeting Mr.Eric Litwin the author of the first 4 Pete the Cat books. He is an amazing & inspiring speaker! Mr. Eric was kind enough to sign 2 of our favorite books! The children were excited to hear that I would be meeting Eric Litwin while I was away- so I have to share this photo! I missed the the Kindergartners on Friday & look forward to being back on Monday!! Enjoy your weekend! Rain on the green grass. Rain on the tree. Rain on the flowers, but not on Me!! The children put on their thinking cap to think of all the things that get rained on in the springtime. We wrote about these things & made a fun rain puddle art project. You can see the art hanging in our hallway next time you are at school! Here is a preview of a few: Puddles of paint & a little bit of wind = splashing fun art! We brainstormed many different ways rainy days can be a blessing! April Showers Bring May Flowers!! Thank you God for the gift of rain!! Friends are also a wonderful blessing! Here is our Super Star of the Week: We know that rabbits do not hatch from an egg! But you do not have to hunt too hard to find the Easter Bunny hiding in the project we made at school on Thursday! We wish you a very HOPPY EASTER!! May you enjoy this very special day!! |
